Gifts of the forests. Handmade paper is made from the barks of ‘Lokta’ shrubs. Which harvested properly will regrow. Nepali paper production is an excellent example of community work.

What a piece of paper can make !!!

Paper cloths  made from threads of “Lokta” paper in combination with either, cotton, silk, wool, nettle fiber…..Entirely handmade with paper produced in remote villages of Magdhi in Nepal, by women from the marginalized community. Then made into paper thread and woven by the skillful hands of women in Kathmandu. This cloth can be dyed(colored), embroidered, printed and even  washed.

We at Mahi transform the raw materials into a range of products retaining the art and essence of Nepal.

Washing instructions:   best dry cleaned.  When washed by hand:  gentle wash, dip dry, do not wring.   Iron while still damp.
